Summary of Legislation: This bill requires that each school corporation and charter school adopt and
implement a wireless communication device policy that governs, with certain exceptions, student use of a
wireless communication device and publish the policy on the school corporation's or charter school's website.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2024.

Explanation of State Revenues: 
Explanation of Local Expenditures: This bill requires public schools to adopt and implement a policy
prohibiting the student use of wireless devices in certain situations. This policy must be published on the
school’s website. The bill’s requirements are within a school’s routine administrative functions and should
be able to be implemented with no additional appropriations, assuming near customary agency staffing and
resource levels.
