Bohacek FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State & Local XDEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: This bill provides that a pregnant woman charged with a drug crime may be referred to a forensic diversion program or a drug court at an initial hearing. Effective Date: July 1, 2024. Explanation of State Expenditures: Explanation of State Revenues: Explanation of Local Expenditures: Any increases in caseload for these courts and forensic diversion programs will be at the discretion of the judge overseeing the court with criminal jurisdiction and the prosecuting attorney in the county. (Revised) There are drug courts in 47 counties in Indiana. There are four counties with forensic diversion programs offered through their community corrections agencies. There are pretrial diversion programs in all 92 counties.
