20	20	1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to allow the House of
21	21	2 Representatives and the Senate of the 123rd Indiana General
22	22	3 Assembly to adjourn and recess separately throughout the
23	23	4 Second Regular Session for periods in excess of three (3)
24	24	5 consecutive days as the need, in the judgment of the Speaker of
25	25	6 the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of
26	26	7 the Senate, respectively, may arise.
27	27	8 Whereas, The Indiana House of Representatives and the
28	28	9 Senate met for the purpose of organization of each House and
29	29	10 to conduct the public business of the people of the State of
30	30	11 Indiana;
31	31	12 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate shall
32	32	13 operate on their own respective schedules, having been
33	33	14 separated from each other pursuant to IC 2-2.1-1-3;
34	34	15 Whereas, During the consideration of legislative business,
35	35	16 each House may, in the respective judgment of the Speaker of
36	36	17 the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of
37	37	18 the Senate, deem it necessary to adjourn and recess for periods
38	38	19 in excess of three (3) consecutive days and to operate on a
39	39	20 schedule different from the other House;
40	40	21 Whereas, Article 4, Section 10 of the Constitution of the State
41	41	22 of Indiana states that neither House shall, without the consent
42	42	23 of the other, adjourn for more than three (3) consecutive days;
43	43	24 Whereas, Each House desires to consent to any adjournment
44	44	25 or recess by the other House which might last more than three
45	45	26 (3) days during the Second Regular Session of the 123rd

47	47	1 General Assembly; and
48	48	2 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate intend
49	49	3 to recess after November 21, 2023, and meet again on January
50	50	4 8, 2024, to conduct legislative business: Therefore,
51	51	5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
52	52	6 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
53	53	7 the Senate concurring:
54	54	8 SECTION 1. That each House of the 123rd Indiana General
55	55	9 Assembly hereby consents to any adjournment or recess of the
56	56	10 other House during the Second Regular Session of the 123rd
57	57	11 Indiana General Assembly for a period in excess of three (3)
58	58	12 days, where such recess or adjournment is approved, in the case
59	59	13 of the Senate, by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or,
60	60	14 in the case of the House of Representatives, by the Speaker of
61	61	15 the House of Representatives.
62	62	16 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
63	63	17 Representatives is directed to inform the Senate of the passage
64	64	18 of the Resolution.
