2020 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to allow the House of
2121 2 Representatives and the Senate of the 123rd Indiana General
2222 3 Assembly to adjourn and recess separately throughout the
2323 4 Second Regular Session for periods in excess of three (3)
2424 5 consecutive days as the need, in the judgment of the Speaker of
2525 6 the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of
2626 7 the Senate, respectively, may arise.
2727 8 Whereas, The Indiana House of Representatives and the
2828 9 Senate met for the purpose of organization of each House and
2929 10 to conduct the public business of the people of the State of
3030 11 Indiana;
3131 12 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate shall
3232 13 operate on their own respective schedules, having been
3333 14 separated from each other pursuant to IC 2-2.1-1-3;
3434 15 Whereas, During the consideration of legislative business,
3535 16 each House may, in the respective judgment of the Speaker of
3636 17 the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of
3737 18 the Senate, deem it necessary to adjourn and recess for periods
3838 19 in excess of three (3) consecutive days and to operate on a
3939 20 schedule different from the other House;
4040 21 Whereas, Article 4, Section 10 of the Constitution of the State
4141 22 of Indiana states that neither House shall, without the consent
4242 23 of the other, adjourn for more than three (3) consecutive days;
4343 24 Whereas, Each House desires to consent to any adjournment
4444 25 or recess by the other House which might last more than three
4545 26 (3) days during the Second Regular Session of the 123rd

4747 1 General Assembly; and
4848 2 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate intend
4949 3 to recess after November 21, 2023, and meet again on January
5050 4 8, 2024, to conduct legislative business: Therefore,
5151 5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
5252 6 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
5353 7 the Senate concurring:
5454 8 SECTION 1. That each House of the 123rd Indiana General
5555 9 Assembly hereby consents to any adjournment or recess of the
5656 10 other House during the Second Regular Session of the 123rd
5757 11 Indiana General Assembly for a period in excess of three (3)
5858 12 days, where such recess or adjournment is approved, in the case
5959 13 of the Senate, by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or,
6060 14 in the case of the House of Representatives, by the Speaker of
6161 15 the House of Representatives.
6262 16 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6363 17 Representatives is directed to inform the Senate of the passage
6464 18 of the Resolution.
