Slager _______________________, read first time and referred to Committee on 20242237 2024 HC 1023/DI 140 Introduced Second Regular Session of the 123rd General Assembly (2024) HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. ____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Kelley 2 Holdren. 3 Whereas, Kelley Holdren, MSN, MBA, CFRN, Chief Flight 4 Nurse and Administrative Director of the University of Chicago 5 Aeromedical Network (UCAN) at the University of Chicago 6 Medicine, passed away November 21, 2023, at the age of 48; 7 Whereas, Kelley started her nursing career at UChicago 8 Medicine in 1998 with clinical experiences that included 9 multiple specialty intensive care units, and then began her 10 flight career in 2004; 11 Whereas, Throughout her flight career, Kelley was a fierce 12 advocate for top-of-license practice for the UCAN team, 13 including creating a nurse-only model, and set the bar for 14 professional certification for the flight nurse team; 15 Whereas, A point of pride for Kelley was developing team 16 competencies in areas that most critical care transport teams 17 cannot provide, such as ECMO, cardiac devices, nitric, and 18 TXP neonatal ventilation; 19 Whereas, Kelley was the president of the Air & Surface 20 Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) and was also past 21 president of the Illinois Association of Air and Critical Care 22 Transport (IAACCT), an organization that seeks to enhance 23 safety and education within the critical care transport 24 community; 25 Whereas, Kelley actively promoted collaboration with fire, 2024 HC 1023/DI 140 2 1 EMS, police, and hospital systems throughout Indiana and 2 Illinois; 3 Whereas, Kelley welcomed multiple health care professional 4 specialties to shadow the UCAN team and learn about its 5 specialized practice, ensuring safe transport of medically 6 complex patients across the entire lifespan; 7 Whereas, Kelley is survived by her husband, Cliff, and their 8 two daughters, Isabella and Hannah; 9 Whereas, Kelley, a nationally known flight nurse, is fondly 10 remembered by her UCAN team for her expertise in clinical 11 care, passion for critical care transport nursing, and her 12 approachable and supportive demeanor; and 13 Whereas, She was the epitome of a selfless and caring person 14 that all Hoosiers should honor and remember, along with all 15 the lives she saved and the first responders and nurses she 16 mentored and taught over her amazing career: Therefore, 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives 18 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, 19 the Senate concurring: 20 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors and 21 memorializes Kelley Holdren and her commitment to saving the 22 lives of people in her community and beyond. 23 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of 24 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State 25 Representative Hal Slager for distribution. 2024 HC 1023/DI 140
