1515 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Kelley
1616 2 Holdren.
1717 3 Whereas, Kelley Holdren, MSN, MBA, CFRN, Chief Flight
1818 4 Nurse and Administrative Director of the University of Chicago
1919 5 Aeromedical Network (UCAN) at the University of Chicago
2020 6 Medicine, passed away November 21, 2023, at the age of 48;
2121 7 Whereas, Kelley started her nursing career at UChicago
2222 8 Medicine in 1998 with clinical experiences that included
2323 9 multiple specialty intensive care units, and then began her
2424 10 flight career in 2004;
2525 11 Whereas, Throughout her flight career, Kelley was a fierce
2626 12 advocate for top-of-license practice for the UCAN team,
2727 13 including creating a nurse-only model, and set the bar for
2828 14 professional certification for the flight nurse team;
2929 15 Whereas, A point of pride for Kelley was developing team
3030 16 competencies in areas that most critical care transport teams
3131 17 cannot provide, such as ECMO, cardiac devices, nitric, and
3232 18 TXP neonatal ventilation;
3333 19 Whereas, Kelley was the president of the Air & Surface
3434 20 Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) and was also past
3535 21 president of the Illinois Association of Air and Critical Care
3636 22 Transport (IAACCT), an organization that seeks to enhance
3737 23 safety and education within the critical care transport
3838 24 community;
3939 25 Whereas, Kelley actively promoted collaboration with fire,

4141 1 EMS, police, and hospital systems throughout Indiana and
4242 2 Illinois;
4343 3 Whereas, Kelley welcomed multiple health care professional
4444 4 specialties to shadow the UCAN team and learn about its
4545 5 specialized practice, ensuring safe transport of medically
4646 6 complex patients across the entire lifespan;
4747 7 Whereas, Kelley is survived by her husband, Cliff, and their
4848 8 two daughters, Isabella and Hannah;
4949 9 Whereas, Kelley, a nationally known flight nurse, is fondly
5050 10 remembered by her UCAN team for her expertise in clinical
5151 11 care, passion for critical care transport nursing, and her
5252 12 approachable and supportive demeanor; and
5353 13 Whereas, She was the epitome of a selfless and caring person
5454 14 that all Hoosiers should honor and remember, along with all
5555 15 the lives she saved and the first responders and nurses she
5656 16 mentored and taught over her amazing career: Therefore,
5757 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
5858 18 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
5959 19 the Senate concurring:
6060 20 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors and
6161 21 memorializes Kelley Holdren and her commitment to saving the
6262 22 lives of people in her community and beyond.
6363 23 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6464 24 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
6565 25 Representative Hal Slager for distribution.
