1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Hallie
2 Bryant on his 90th birthday.
3 Whereas, Hallie Bryant was born on January 24, 1934, in
4 Indianapolis, Indiana; 
5 Whereas, Hallie Bryant played for the legendary Crispus
6 Attucks High School men's basketball team and led them to the
7 1951 Final Four. In 1953, he was named Mr. Basketball for the
8 state of Indiana; 
9 Whereas, Hallie Bryant played basketball for the iconic coach
10 Branch McCracken from 1955 to 1957 at Indiana University.
11 Hallie was one of the captains on the 1957 Big Ten
12 Championship team; 
13 Whereas, Hallie Bryant served as a commissioned officer in
14 the U.S. Army for two years; 
15 Whereas, Hallie Bryant was inducted into the IHSAA
16 Basketball Hall of Fame and the Indiana University Basketball
17 Hall of Fame; 
18 Whereas, Hallie Bryant played for the Harlem Globetrotters
19 for 13 years and then was employed on the team's public
20 relations staff for 14 years. He played in games in over 80
21 countries with the Harlem Globetrotters; 
22 Whereas, In 2009, Hallie Bryant became the 28th member of
23 the Harlem Globetrotters to receive the "Legends" award. He
24 was offered the award in 1998 but selflessly asked that the

1 award be given to his childhood friend and teammate, Willie
2 Gardner. Willie was in poor health in 1998 and passed away in
3 2000; and
4 Whereas, Upon retirement from the Harlem Globetrotters,
5 Hallie Bryant became a motivational speaker and author. He
6 focused on leadership, sportsmanship, and academic
7 excellence. In 2002, he published the book "Hallie's Comet:
8 Breaking the Code". As a motivational speaker he has
9 addressed General Motors, General Electric, Special Olympics,
10 Eli Lilly & Co., and other groups: Therefore,
11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
12 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
13 the Senate concurring:
14 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
15 Hallie Bryant on his 90th birthday for a lifetime of inspiring
16 others and building bridges in an effort to create a better world.
17 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
18 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
19 Representative Gregory Porter for distribution.
