20 | 20 | | 5 Agency (FSA) supports farms and farming communities with |

21 | 21 | | 6 programs including disaster relief, conservation programs, |
---|
22 | 22 | | 7 commodity price guarantee programs, and loan programs; |
---|
23 | 23 | | 8 Whereas, The Indiana FSA, the agency's central office for the |
---|
24 | 24 | | 9 state, administers farm commodity, disaster, and conservation |
---|
25 | 25 | | 10 programs for farmers, and makes guaranteed farm emergency, |
---|
26 | 26 | | 11 ownership, and operating loans through a network of 75 |
---|
27 | 27 | | 12 Hoosier county offices; |
---|
28 | 28 | | 13 Whereas, The FSA's responsibilities are organized into five |
---|
29 | 29 | | 14 areas: Farm Programs, Farm Loans, Commodity Operations, |
---|
30 | 30 | | 15 Management, and State Operations. The agency continues to |
---|
31 | 31 | | 16 provide America's farmers with a strong safety net through the |
---|
32 | 32 | | 17 administration of farm commodity programs; |
---|
33 | 33 | | 18 Whereas, The FSA also implements ad hoc disaster programs. |

34 | 34 | | 19 The FSA's longstanding tradition of conserving the nation's |
---|
35 | 35 | | 20 natural resources continues through the Conservation Reserve |
---|
36 | 36 | | 21 Program. Additionally, the agency provides credit to |
---|
37 | 37 | | 22 agricultural producers who are unable to receive private, |
---|
38 | 38 | | 23 commercial credit; |

39 | 39 | | 24 Whereas, The men and women who comprise the Indiana FSA |

40 | 40 | | 25 are public employees who dedicate their careers to public |

41 | 41 | | 26 service by contributing to the industry of agriculture; and |

47 | 47 | | 5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives |

50 | 50 | | 8 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly hereby |

51 | 51 | | 9 recognizes the importance of agriculture in the Indiana and |
---|
52 | 52 | | 10 national economies for its remarkable capacity for providing |
---|
53 | 53 | | 11 food, fiber, feed, and fuel to our state and nation; and pays |
---|
54 | 54 | | 12 special attention to the employees of the Farm Service Agency |
---|
55 | 55 | | 13 for the work they do to implement federal programs for |
---|
56 | 56 | | 14 Indiana's agricultural industry. |

57 | 57 | | 15 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of |

58 | 58 | | 16 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State |
