88 2 as Jack and Jill of America Day at the Indiana State Capitol.
99 3 Whereas, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is the premiere
1010 4 organization dedicated to nurturing future African-American
1111 5 leaders through cultural, educational, health, civic, and social
1212 6 programming;
1313 7 Whereas, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., boasts 262 chapters
1414 8 nationwide, representing more than 50,000 family members,
1515 9 with a significant presence in the state of Indiana;
1616 10 Whereas, Each Jack and Jill of America chapter annually
1717 11 plans programming activities guided by a comprehensive
1818 12 five-point programmatic thrust, including cultural awareness,
1919 13 educational development, health advocacy, civic engagement,
2020 14 and social and recreational activities;

2323 1 Whereas, Through its service projects, Jack and Jill of
2424 2 America creates invaluable opportunities for children to
2525 3 engage in activities that stimulate their growth and
2626 4 development, fostering a sense of community and service
2727 5 among youth;
2828 6 Whereas, Jack and Jill of America actively promotes public
2929 7 awareness and advocacy for children's interests through
3030 8 lobbying, educational programming, dissemination of
3131 9 materials, and organizing community and charitable events,
3232 10 thereby advancing crucial issues such as child development,
3333 11 quality of life, and children's rights; and
3434 12 Whereas, The organization currently operates 262 chapters
3535 13 across the United States with 41 of those chapters situated in
3636 14 the Midwestern region under the exemplary leadership of
3737 15 Regional Director Deidre Lindsey, including four chapters
3838 16 serving the state of Indiana: Therefore,
3939 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
4040 18 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
4141 19 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
4242 20 recognizes February 19, 2024, as Jack and Jill of America Day
4343 21 at the Indiana State Capitol in recognition of the significant
4444 22 contributions made by Jack and Jill of America, Inc., to the
4545 23 enrichment of children's lives and the betterment of
4646 24 communities across the nation, and particularly within the state
4747 25 of Indiana.
4848 26 SECTION 2. That the Indiana House of Representatives
4949 27 extends its gratitude to Jack and Jill of America, Inc., its
5050 28 Mother members, Father's Auxiliary, and Associates, for their
5151 29 unwavering dedication to the well-being and development of
5252 30 children and families.
5353 31 SECTION 3. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
5454 32 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
5555 33 Indianapolis and Circle City chapters of Jack and Jill of
5656 34 America, Inc., in recognition of all Indiana chapters and as a
5757 35 token of the Indiana House of Representatives' appreciation for
5858 36 their outstanding service and commitment to the youth of our
5959 37 state and nation.
