77 1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing Indiana 4-H's work
88 2 to advance positive youth development in the state.
99 3 Whereas, Indiana 4-H was established in 1904 in Hamilton
1010 4 County by John F. Haines, a school superintendent, to develop
1111 5 young boys and girls in the state;
1212 6 Whereas, 4-H members consistently demonstrate the ability
1313 7 and leadership necessary to be champions and serve as
1414 8 outstanding representatives and officers of the young people of
1515 9 Indiana;
1616 10 Whereas, The Purdue University Extension 4-H youth
1717 11 development program offers educational programming in
1818 12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics, healthy
1919 13 living, and civic engagement to over 163,000 youth each year
2020 14 in partnership with all 92 Indiana counties and thousands of

2323 1 4-H volunteers;
2424 2 Whereas, Community clubs, after-school programs,
2525 3 in-school programs, camps, and workshops give 4-H members
2626 4 across Indiana an opportunity to be among the youngest
2727 5 students at Purdue University;
2828 6 Whereas, Indiana 4-H successfully prepares youth for
2929 7 employment, enlistment, and education, with 72 percent of
3030 8 Indiana 4-H high school graduates having attended
3131 9 post-secondary institutions over the past six years, and 86
3232 10 percent of those were enrolled at institutions within the state of
3333 11 Indiana;
3434 12 Whereas, Travis Barnhart of Marshall County, Shelby Davis
3535 13 of Jennings County, Audrey Fisher of Posey County, Noah
3636 14 Miller of Lake County, Kylee Reeves of Montgomery County,
3737 15 Isabel Sayre of Benton County, and Emma Wooley of Union
3838 16 County serve with distinction and dedication as the 2023-24
3939 17 class of Indiana 4-H ambassadors, representing the interests,
4040 18 beliefs, and desires of all 4-H members of the state;
4141 19 Whereas, Lora Commens of Posey County, Kaylyn Zeigler
4242 20 of Cass County, Danessa Hoffman of LaGrange County,
4343 21 Rosalind Kidwell of Warrick County, Roman Peterson of
4444 22 Fayette County, Jace Duttlinger of Spencer County, Colton
4545 23 Neal of Lake County, and Troy Wolters of Boone County were
4646 24 selected to represent Indiana at the 102nd National 4-H
4747 25 Congress;
4848 26 Whereas, McKinley Underhill of Hamilton County was
4949 27 selected to serve as a leader for the 2023 National 4-H
5050 28 Congress Design Team; and
5151 29 Whereas, It is fitting and proper that the outstanding
5252 30 accomplishments of these extraordinary individuals be
5353 31 recognized: Therefore,
5454 32 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
5555 33 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5656 34 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives

5959 1 recognizes February 13, 2024, as 4-H Day at the Statehouse and
6060 2 commends the Purdue University Extension 4-H youth
6161 3 development program and each of the nationally recognized and
6262 4 state recognized honorees for their numerous accomplishments
6363 5 and the leadership they have demonstrated.
6464 6 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6565 7 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
6666 8 Representative Mike Aylesworth for distribution to the Purdue
6767 9 Extension 4-H youth development program.
