*HR1524* Introduced Version HOUSE RESOLUTION No. ___ Introduced by: GiaQuinta, Hamilton, Pryor ____________________________________ 1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Representative Ryan 2 Hatfield. 3 Whereas, Representative Ryan Hatfield, who was first 4 elected to represent the citizens of House District 77 in 2016, 5 will be leaving the House Chamber for the last time at the end 6 of the 2024 Legislative Session; 7 Whereas, During his time in the House of Representatives, 8 Representative Hatfield has served as the ranking minority 9 member of the Committee on Elections and Apportionment and 10 as a member of the Committee on Courts and Criminal Code, 11 and he currently serves as the ranking minority member of the 12 Judiciary Committee and of the Committee on Employment, 13 Labor and Pensions, as well as a member of the standing 14 committees on Public Health and Utilities, Energy and 15 Telecommunications; 20242282 HR 1524/DI 140 2024 2 1 Whereas, Representative Hatfield serves in a key leadership 2 position as Assistant Leader, and he has previously served as 3 Assistant Democratic Floor Leader and Assistant Democratic 4 Whip; 5 Whereas, Despite serving in a super minority, Representative 6 Hatfield has worked on the enactment of numerous bills and 7 amendments addressing criminal justice, law, judiciary, 8 victims' rights, health care, utilities, telecommunications, and 9 environmental concerns; 10 Whereas, In addition to his service as a state representative, 11 Representative Hatfield is a licensed attorney and operates his 12 private practice of Hatfield Law Office, representing clients in 13 a myriad of legal domains from criminal and family matters to 14 personal injury, business, and maritime law. He serves as a 15 Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel member, representing 16 indigent federal criminal defendants in a range of cases 17 including fraud, drug offenses, sex crimes, conspiracy, and 18 firearm cases; 19 Whereas, Representative Hatfield is the recipient of a 20 multitude of awards, including the Humane Society of the 21 United States Humane Legislator of the Year Award, American 22 Academy of Attorneys Top 40 Under 40, and the Indiana Farm 23 Bureau Emerging Leader Award, and he has been recognized 24 in legal circles through Lawyers of Distinction, National Trial 25 Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and Rue's Ratings' Best Attorneys 26 of America; 27 Whereas, Representative Hatfield has a rich tapestry of 28 experience that spans legislative leadership, private practice, 29 and public service with a commitment to justice, a passion for 30 advocacy, and a proven track record of impactful 31 contributions; and 32 Whereas, Representative Hatfield has served his 33 constituency loyally and faithfully since his election to the 34 House of Representatives: Therefore, 35 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 20242282 HR 1524/DI 140 2024 3 1 General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 2 SECTION 1.
