7	7	1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Representative Ryan
8	8	2 Hatfield.
9	9	3 Whereas, Representative Ryan Hatfield, who was first
10	10	4 elected to represent the citizens of House District 77 in 2016,
11	11	5 will be leaving the House Chamber for the last time at the end
12	12	6 of the 2024 Legislative Session;
13	13	7 Whereas, During his time in the House of Representatives,
14	14	8 Representative Hatfield has served as the ranking minority
15	15	9 member of the Committee on Elections and Apportionment and
16	16	10 as a member of the Committee on Courts and Criminal Code,
17	17	11 and he currently serves as the ranking minority member of the
18	18	12 Judiciary Committee and of the Committee on Employment,
19	19	13 Labor and Pensions, as well as a member of the standing
20	20	14 committees on Public Health and Utilities, Energy and
21	21	15 Telecommunications;

24	24	1 Whereas, Representative Hatfield serves in a key leadership
25	25	2 position as Assistant Leader, and he has previously served as
26	26	3 Assistant Democratic Floor Leader and Assistant Democratic
27	27	4 Whip;
28	28	5 Whereas, Despite serving in a super minority, Representative
29	29	6 Hatfield has worked on the enactment of numerous bills and
30	30	7 amendments addressing criminal justice, law, judiciary,
31	31	8 victims' rights, health care, utilities, telecommunications, and
32	32	9 environmental concerns;
33	33	10 Whereas, In addition to his service as a state representative,
34	34	11 Representative Hatfield is a licensed attorney and operates his
35	35	12 private practice of Hatfield Law Office, representing clients in
36	36	13 a myriad of legal domains from criminal and family matters to
37	37	14 personal injury, business, and maritime law. He serves as a
38	38	15 Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel member, representing
39	39	16 indigent federal criminal defendants in a range of cases
40	40	17 including fraud, drug offenses, sex crimes, conspiracy, and
41	41	18 firearm cases;
42	42	19 Whereas, Representative Hatfield is the recipient of a
43	43	20 multitude of awards, including the Humane Society of the
44	44	21 United States Humane Legislator of the Year Award, American
45	45	22 Academy of Attorneys Top 40 Under 40, and the Indiana Farm
46	46	23 Bureau Emerging Leader Award, and he has been recognized
47	47	24 in legal circles through Lawyers of Distinction, National Trial
48	48	25 Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and Rue's Ratings' Best Attorneys
49	49	26 of America;
50	50	27 Whereas, Representative Hatfield has a rich tapestry of
51	51	28 experience that spans legislative leadership, private practice,
52	52	29 and public service with a commitment to justice, a passion for
53	53	30 advocacy, and a proven track record of impactful
54	54	31 contributions; and
55	55	32 Whereas, Representative Hatfield has served his
56	56	33 constituency loyally and faithfully since his election to the
57	57	34 House of Representatives: Therefore,

61	61	1 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
62	62	2 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
63	63	3 honors Representative Ryan Hatfield upon his retirement.
64	64	4 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
65	65	5 Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to
66	66	6 Representative Ryan Hatfield.
