99 3 Whereas, Marrs Elementary School was recognized at the
1010 4 Indiana State Capitol on February 15, 2024, for outstanding
1111 5 reading achievement;
1212 6 Whereas, Marrs Elementary School had a pass rate of 98.1
1313 7 percent on the 2023 IREAD test, which surpassed the state goal
1414 8 of 95 percent and the state average of 81.9 percent;
1515 9 Whereas, Principal Katie Bushard accepted the recognition
1616 10 on behalf of the school;
1717 11 Whereas, The dedicated 3rd grade teachers that worked
1818 12 tirelessly in guiding their students to reach these achievements
1919 13 are Connie Jesch (retired), Tammy Weatherford, and Patricia

2323 2 Whereas, Despite the last few years being some of the most
2424 3 challenging years in education due to learning loss and impacts
2525 4 of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marrs Elementary School was able
2626 5 to excel and score exceptionally well on their IREAD test:
2727 6 Therefore,
2828 7 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
2929 8 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3030 9 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
3131 10 honors Marrs Elementary School of Mount Vernon, Indiana, for
3232 11 their pass rate of 98 percent on the 2023 IREAD test.
3333 12 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
3434 13 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
3535 14 Representative Wendy McNamara for distribution.
