1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing Anderson Young
2 Ballet Theatre on its 50th anniversary.
3 Whereas, As a preprofessional ballet company dedicated to
4 nurturing young talent, Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, Inc.,
5 is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization committed to bringing
6 the art of dance to the community;
7 Whereas, Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, Inc., (AYBT) is an
8 honor company and a semiprofessional dance company
9 founded by Lou Ann Young in 1974;
10 Whereas, AYBT has featured Anderson's dancing youth in
11 such productions as: "The Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty",
12 "Coppelia", "Romeo & Juliet", "Cinderella", "Giselle", "The
13 Red Shoes", "Swan Lake", and several ballet excerpts;

1 Whereas, AYBT is also one of the forerunners in dance for
2 modern and musical theater. Each season, in addition to "The
3 Nutcracker", AYBT performs two additional full-length
4 productions. Dancers are trained first in the Cecchetti Syllabus
5 and then Vaganova forms of ballet. Their jazz technique is
6 based in the Luigi method;
7 Whereas, AYBT dancers have won such awards as Butler
8 University's Margaret Sear Rosenblith Award, Arts & Letters,
9 and the Carey Rose Winski Memorial Scholarship;
10 Whereas, AYBT dancers have been accepted to the National
11 Ballet School, School of American Ballet, Interlochen Arts
12 Academy, and the Joffrey Ballet School;
13 Whereas, Professionally, AYBT dancers have danced with
14 the Indianapolis Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Lexington Ballet,
15 Colorado Ballet, Walt Disney Productions, Dance
16 Kaleidoscope, Kings Productions, and Beef & Boards; and
17 Whereas, In celebration of its 50th anniversary season,
18 Anderson Young Ballet Theatre presents "12 Dancing
19 Princesses" on March 2, 2024, at Reardon Auditorium, located
20 on the Anderson University campus: Therefore,
21 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
22 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
23 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
24 recognizes the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre on its 50th
25 anniversary.
26 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
27 Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to State
28 Representative Kyle Pierce for distribution.
