ALEXANDER , read first time and referred to Committee on 2024 RC 1509/DI SM Introduced Second Regular Session 123rd General Assembly (2024) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the Ball State 2 University County Ambassador Program and the inaugural 3 cohort of student ambassadors. 4 Whereas, Ball State University serves nearly 20,000 5 students and more than 200,000 alumni with their mission to 6 "engage students in educational, research, and creative 7 endeavors that empower our graduates to have fulfilling 8 careers and meaningful lives enriched by lifelong learning and 9 service, while we enhance the economic, environmental, and 10 social vitality of our community, our state, and our world"; 11 Whereas, Hoosiers make up nearly 90 percent of Ball 12 State's undergraduate students and recent data reported that 78 13 percent of the graduating class of 2022 chose to remain in 14 Indiana following graduation; 15 Whereas, In 2022, Ball State created the Office of 16 Government Relations and Industry Engagement to ensure all 17 communities and organizations are able to access the 18 university's talent pipeline; 19 Whereas, On March 6, 2023, Ball State unveiled a new 20 County Ambassador Program, a student-to-student engagement 21 initiative that provides all 92 Indiana counties the opportunity 22 to attract Ball State graduates upon the completion of their 23 degrees; 24 Whereas, Through the Program, individual counties may 25 identify and appoint a current student to serve as a non-paid 2024 RC 1509/DI SM 2 1 volunteer ambassador to represent their county and promote 2 the assets, quality of life, and career opportunities in their 3 individual communities; 4 Whereas, Ambassadors receive entrepreneurial training on 5 practices and parameters of campus promotion, the importance 6 of promoting quality of place to sustain Indiana communities, 7 and ways to best engage with and encourage peers to recognize 8 post-graduation opportunities within the counties they 9 represent; 10 Whereas, The inaugural cohort of the Ball State County 11 Ambassador Program began their terms in the Fall 2023 12 semester and have proven exemplary representations of their 13 home counties and Ball State's enduring values of excellence, 14 innovation, courage, and integrity; 15 Whereas, Volunteer ambassadors for the 2023-2024 school 16 year include Samuel P. Adams, Katie Blessinger, Colin Brown, 17 Jacksen Cole, Emma Eubank, Ella Flanagan, Titus Hill, 18 Harrison Hopkins, Kaylon Hunsley, Lexie Huys, Layla Jones, 19 Bryce Pennington, Isaac Rogers, Camryn Ryan, Ann Marie 20 Susong, and Allie Townsend; and 21 Whereas, The county ambassadors represent fourteen 22 counties including Allen, Boone, DeKalb, Delaware, Elkhart, 23 Gibson, Grant, Hamilton, LaGrange, Madison, Marion, Porter, 24 Spencer, and Wayne: Therefore; 25 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 26 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 27 concurring: 28 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors the 29 Ball State University County Ambassador Program and its 30 inaugural cohort of student ambassadors. 31 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed 32 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Ball State University 33 President Geoffrey S. Mearns. 2024 RC 1509/DI SM
