1313 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the
1414 2 Montgomery County United Marching Band and Guard.
1515 3 Whereas, The Montgomery County United Marching Band
1616 4 and Guard was formed in 2017 to build character and life skills
1717 5 through the marching arts and is comprised of students, faculty,
1818 6 and supporters from the Crawfordsville, North Montgomery,
1919 7 and South Montgomery Community School Corporations;
2020 8 Whereas, The Montgomery County United Marching Band
2121 9 and Guard, which numbered 75 members in 2023, encompasses
2222 10 marching band, indoor percussion, symphonic band, and winter
2323 11 guard ensembles and represents its community at civic events
2424 12 and competitive festivals which provide formative feedback for
2525 13 continuous improvement;
2626 14 Whereas, In 2021, its first year competing, the Montgomery
2727 15 County United Winter Winds ensemble earned first place in the
2828 16 Indiana Percussion Association's State Finals and followed that
2929 17 performance by successfully defending its state champion title
3030 18 in 2022; and
3131 19 Whereas, After a successful audition, the Montgomery
3232 20 County United Marching Band and Guard was selected as one
3333 21 of nine marching bands in the country to perform at the locally,
3434 22 nationally, and globally televised AES 500 Festival Parade on
3535 23 May 27, 2023, in Indianapolis: Therefore,
3636 24 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

4040 2 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
4141 3 congratulates the Montgomery County United Marching Band
4242 4 and Guard on back-to-back state championships and an
4343 5 outstanding television appearance.
4444 6 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
4545 7 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Crawfordsville High
4646 8 School Director of Bands, Jon Tebbe, North Montgomery High
4747 9 School Director of Bands, Andy Simpkins, and Southmont
4848 10 Junior-Senior High School Director of Bands, Elizabeth
