SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize the Greater
2 Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance (GIMA) for their advocacy and
3 work on housing related policies.
4 Whereas, GIMA organizes the faith community of
5 Indianapolis to advocate for fair, affordable housing and to
6 address homelessness and Indianapolis's eviction crisis;
7 Whereas, Indianapolis ranks 2nd in the nation in evictions
8 behind only New York City;
9 Whereas, GIMA works tirelessly with its local partners to
10 educate individuals and families by hosting events that teach
11 about housing solutions in Indiana;
12 Whereas, GIMA works to provide resources that will
13 educate and strengthen communities by teaching about
14 landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities; and
15 Whereas, GIMA encourages accountability by monitoring
16 the court eviction process and their presence in the courtroom
17 shows tenants that someone cares: Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
2 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes, GIMA for
4 their advocacy and work on housing policies.
5 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
6 directed to transmit three copies of this Resolution to the
7 Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance.
