SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring the Indiana School
2 for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
3 Whereas, The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually
4 Impaired (ISBVI) was established in 1847, and is a residential
5 school for Indiana youth who are blind or have low vision;
6 Whereas, Students of the ISBVI can attend from pre-school
7 through high school, starting at age 3 up to the age of 22;
8 Whereas, ISBVI educates approximately 150 students on
9 their campus and 300 students in their homes;
10 Whereas, ISBVI has been recognized at the national level
11 by peer schools for its practices, and has a strong education
12 and administrative staff; and
13 Whereas, Over the past 175 years, the ISBVI has developed
14 unique and effective educational tools and techniques that are
15 unparalleled in the state of Indiana, resulting in students that
16 are more aptly prepared for thriving in their personal
17 environments: Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
2 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the
4 accomplishments of the students, faculty and staff of the
5 Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
6 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
7 to transmit copies of this resolution to the Indiana School for
8 the Blind and Visually Impaired.
