SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION celebrating the 100th
2 anniversary of the Town of Paragon's annual Homecoming
3 Festival.
4 Whereas, The Town of Paragon, Indiana, a small
5 community of under 600 residents originally founded in the
6 early 1850s and located south of Martinsville on State Road 67,
7 hosts its annual Homecoming Festival each year over Labor
8 Day Weekend;
9 Whereas, The Homecoming Festival began on Labor Day
10 weekend in 1924 as a way to celebrate and welcome back to
11 Paragon families and friends that had gone off into the world
12 to find work;

14 Whereas, The Homecoming Festival continues to promote
15 the hospitality, civic pride, and sense of community that is
16 indelibly woven into the fabric of countless Hoosier towns by
17 welcoming home both those who grew up in Paragon as well as
18 those visiting for the first time with three days of food, games,
19 activities, live music, and a parade; and
20 Whereas, Paragon will celebrate 100 years of the

1 Homecoming Festival from August 30 to September 1, 2024:
2 Therefore,
3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
4 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes and
6 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Town of Paragon's
7 annual Homecoming Festival.
8 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
9 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Paragon Town
10 Council.
