12 | 12 | | I offer the following resolution and move its adoption: |

13 | 13 | | 1 A SENATE RESOLUTION celebrating the 100th |

14 | 14 | | 2 Anniversary of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. |
---|
15 | 15 | | 3 Whereas, On March 20, 1924, the Huntington County |
---|
16 | 16 | | 4 Chamber of Commerce was established to promote economic |
---|
17 | 17 | | 5 development, business retention, involvement in community and |
---|
18 | 18 | | 6 legislative forums, and to provide continued education for |
---|
19 | 19 | | 7 business leaders and their staff; |
---|
20 | 20 | | 8 Whereas, First organized on July 2, 1902, as the |
---|
21 | 21 | | 9 Commercial Club and later changed to the Huntington |
---|
22 | 22 | | 10 Commercial Association on November 7, 1911, the |
---|
23 | 23 | | 11 organization has been a force within the county by concerning |
---|
24 | 24 | | 12 themselves with industrial affairs and promoting any |
---|
25 | 25 | | 13 movements which had a purpose to better Huntington County; |
---|
26 | 26 | | 14 Whereas, The mission of the Huntington County Chamber |
---|
27 | 27 | | 15 of Commerce has continued to support and promote a |
---|
28 | 28 | | 16 community atmosphere in which business prospers and the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 17 quality of life continually improves; |
---|
30 | 30 | | 18 Whereas, The Chamber has made significant contributions |
---|
31 | 31 | | 19 to the development of the surrounding community through |
---|

33 | 33 | | 1 countless initiatives, including the Huntington dam and |
---|
34 | 34 | | 2 reservoir and the four-lane U.S. 24 bypass; |

35 | 35 | | 3 Whereas, The Chamber has consistently grown through its |

36 | 36 | | 4 history, from 82 members listed in the original papers of |
---|
37 | 37 | | 5 incorporation to currently serving over 400 members; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | 6 Whereas, The Chamber is celebrating its 100th |
---|
39 | 39 | | 7 Anniversary, and it is fitting for the Indiana Senate to recognize |
---|
40 | 40 | | 8 their steadfast devotion to the economic prosperity of |
---|
41 | 41 | | 9 Huntington County, Northeast Indiana, and the Hoosier State: |

44 | 44 | | 12 General Assembly of the State of Indiana: |

45 | 45 | | 13 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate celebrates the 100th |

46 | 46 | | 14 Anniversary of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. |

47 | 47 | | 15 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed |

48 | 48 | | 16 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Steve Kimmel, the |

49 | 49 | | 17 executive director of the Huntington County Chamber of |
