HOUSE BILL No. 1076 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning health. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 16-41-18.2 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE 2 AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE 3 JULY 1, 2025]: 4 Chapter 18.2. Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Education 5 Sec. 1. (a) The state department shall collaborate with a national 6 Alzheimer's disease and dementia organization in educating the 7 public about the following concerning Alzheimer's disease and 8 dementia: 9 (1) The signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and 10 dementia. 11 (2) Personal risk factors. 12 (3) Options for diagnosing and treating Alzheimer's disease 13 and dementia. 14 (4) Populations with elevated risk for Alzheimer's disease and 15 dementia. 16 (b) The state department shall identify additional partners to 17 collaborate with in educating the public about Alzheimer's disease 2025 IN 1076—LS 6471/DI 104 2 1 and dementia, including any of the following: 2 (1) Local health departments. 3 (2) The division of aging. 4 (3) Employer wellness programs. 5 (4) Health care providers, including hospitals. 6 (5) Health insurers. 7 (6) Nonprofit organizations. 8 (7) Community organizations. 9 Sec. 2. The state department shall partner for outreach with a 10 national Alzheimer's disease and dementia organization that has 11 an initiative or program to educate and train health care providers 12 and human services providers on the following current and 13 accurate scientific and medical information topics concerning 14 Alzheimer's disease and dementia: 15 (1) Diagnosis. 16 (2) Treatment. 17 (3) Research advances. 18 (4) Care planning. 19 Sec. 3. The state department shall publish information described 20 in section 2 of this chapter on the state department's website. 21 Sec. 4. The state department may accept grants, services, and 22 property from the federal government, public entities, and private 23 entities to provide the education described in this chapter.
