2525 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
2626 general provisions.
2727 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
2828 1 SECTION 1. IC 1-1-13.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
2929 2 AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
3030 3 JULY 1, 2025]:
3131 4 Chapter 13.5. U.S.S. Indianapolis CA-35 Day
3232 5 Sec. 1. The governor shall issue a proclamation each year
3333 6 designating July 30 as "U.S.S. Indianapolis CA-35 Day" and exhort
3434 7 the Indiana Historical Bureau, the educational, historic, and
3535 8 patriotic organizations of Indiana, and the citizens of Indiana to
3636 9 commemorate, with suitable exercises, the tragic loss of the U.S.S.
3737 10 Indianapolis, along with eight hundred seventy-nine (879) sailors,
3838 11 on July 30, 1945.
