3131 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
3232 professions and occupations.
3333 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3434 1 SECTION 1. IC 25-8-10-3, AS AMENDED BY P.L.170-2013,
3535 2 SECTION 66, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
3636 3 JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 3. The application described in section 2 of this
3737 4 chapter must state that the applicant:
3838 5 (1) holds a cosmetologist license issued under IC 25-8-9 or an
3939 6 esthetician license issued under IC 25-8-12.5;
4040 7 (2) (1) has successfully completed the a combined total of six
4141 8 hundred (600) hours of education and experience requirements
4242 9 required under the rules adopted by the board in the instruction
4343 10 of for electrology training in a beauty culture school;
4444 11 (3) (2) has received a satisfactory grade (as defined by
4545 12 IC 25-8-4-9) on an examination for electrologist license
4646 13 prescribed by the board;
4747 14 (4) (3) has not committed an act for which the applicant could be
4848 15 disciplined under IC 25-8-14; and
4949 16 (5) (4) has paid the fee set forth in IC 25-8-13-8 for the issuance
5050 17 of a license under this chapter.

5252 1 SECTION 2. IC 25-8-10-3.1, AS ADDED BY P.L.170-2013,
5353 2 SECTION 67, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
5454 3 JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 3.1. If a person does not receive a satisfactory
5555 4 grade on the examination described in section 3(3) 3(2) of this chapter,
5656 5 the person may repeat the examination without completing any
5757 6 additional study in electrology.
5858 7 SECTION 3. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025] (a) Not later than June
5959 8 30, 2026, the state board of cosmetology and barber examiners
6060 9 shall amend 820 IAC 4-4-7 to require a combined total of six
6161 10 hundred (600) hours of education and experience for electrology
6262 11 training.
6363 12 (b) This SECTION expires July 1, 2027.
