31	31	A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
32	32	professions and occupations.
33	33	Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
34	34	1 SECTION 1. IC 25-8-10-3, AS AMENDED BY P.L.170-2013,
35	35	2 SECTION 66, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
36	36	3 JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 3. The application described in section 2 of this
37	37	4 chapter must state that the applicant:
38	38	5 (1) holds a cosmetologist license issued under IC 25-8-9 or an
39	39	6 esthetician license issued under IC 25-8-12.5;
40	40	7 (2) (1) has successfully completed the a combined total of six
41	41	8 hundred (600) hours of education and experience requirements
42	42	9 required under the rules adopted by the board in the instruction
43	43	10 of for electrology training in a beauty culture school;
44	44	11 (3) (2) has received a satisfactory grade (as defined by
45	45	12 IC 25-8-4-9) on an examination for electrologist license
46	46	13 prescribed by the board;
47	47	14 (4) (3) has not committed an act for which the applicant could be
48	48	15 disciplined under IC 25-8-14; and
49	49	16 (5) (4) has paid the fee set forth in IC 25-8-13-8 for the issuance
50	50	17 of a license under this chapter.

52	52	1 SECTION 2. IC 25-8-10-3.1, AS ADDED BY P.L.170-2013,
53	53	2 SECTION 67, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
54	54	3 JULY 1, 2026]: Sec. 3.1. If a person does not receive a satisfactory
55	55	4 grade on the examination described in section 3(3) 3(2) of this chapter,
56	56	5 the person may repeat the examination without completing any
57	57	6 additional study in electrology.
58	58	7 SECTION 3. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025] (a) Not later than June
59	59	8 30, 2026, the state board of cosmetology and barber examiners
60	60	9 shall amend 820 IAC 4-4-7 to require a combined total of six
61	61	10 hundred (600) hours of education and experience for electrology
62	62	11 training.
63	63	12 (b) This SECTION expires July 1, 2027.
