54 | 54 | | 5 the surcharge collected under the ordinance on forms approved by |
---|
55 | 55 | | 6 the county treasurer. |

56 | 56 | | 7 (b) The surcharge is equal to an amount of not more than two |
---|
57 | 57 | | 8 dollars ($2) in addition to any fees charged by the department for |
---|
58 | 58 | | 9 entry into the state park or state recreation area. However, the |
---|
59 | 59 | | 10 surcharge may not be imposed on: |
---|
60 | 60 | | 11 (1) a veteran (as defined in IC 10-17-13.5-3); |
---|
61 | 61 | | 12 (2) an individual serving on active duty in any branch of the |
---|
62 | 62 | | 13 armed forces; or |
---|
63 | 63 | | 14 (3) an individual who is at least sixty-five (65) years of age. |

64 | 64 | | 15 (c) The department shall: |
---|
65 | 65 | | 16 (1) begin collecting the surcharge not later than sixty (60) |
---|
66 | 66 | | 17 days after receiving notice under subsection (a) of the |
---|
67 | 67 | | 18 adoption of an ordinance; and |
---|
68 | 68 | | 19 (2) pay the surcharge collected during a month to the county |
---|
69 | 69 | | 20 treasurer not later than the end of the following month. |

70 | 70 | | 21 (d) The surcharge collected by the department and paid to the |
---|
71 | 71 | | 22 county treasurer must be used for purposes related to first |
---|
72 | 72 | | 23 responders in the county, including compensation and purchase |
---|
73 | 73 | | 24 and updating of equipment, in accordance with the ordinance |
---|
