33 | 33 | | Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: |

34 | 34 | | 1 SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025] (a) As used in this |
---|
35 | 35 | | 2 SECTION, "FSSA" means the office of the secretary of family and |
---|
36 | 36 | | 3 social services established by IC 12-8-1.5-1. |
---|
37 | 37 | | 4 (b) FSSA shall conduct a study of the means by which the state |
---|
38 | 38 | | 5 can optimize the delivery of services to individuals who are: |
---|
39 | 39 | | 6 (1) intellectually disabled and mentally ill; or |
---|
40 | 40 | | 7 (2) mentally ill and addicted to alcohol or a controlled |
---|
41 | 41 | | 8 substance. |
---|
42 | 42 | | 9 (c) The study under subsection (b) must seek to identify means |
---|
43 | 43 | | 10 by which the state can deliver services to an individual described |
---|
44 | 44 | | 11 in subsection (b): |
---|
45 | 45 | | 12 (1) such that the individual receives services for both: |
---|
46 | 46 | | 13 (A) the individual's intellectual disability and the |
---|
47 | 47 | | 14 individual's mental illness; or |
---|
48 | 48 | | 15 (B) the individual's mental illness and the individual's |
---|
49 | 49 | | 16 addiction; |
---|
50 | 50 | | 17 as applicable; and |
---|
51 | 51 | | 18 (2) such as to reduce the likelihood of the individual becoming |

54 | 54 | | 2 (d) Not later than November 1, 2025, FSSA shall transmit to the |

56 | 56 | | 4 under IC 5-14-6, for distribution to the members of the general |
---|
57 | 57 | | 5 assembly, a report setting forth: |

58 | 58 | | 6 (1) the findings of the study under subsection (b); and |
---|
59 | 59 | | 7 (2) any legislation recommended by FSSA based on the |
---|
60 | 60 | | 8 findings of the study under subsection (b). |
