HOUSE BILL No. 1608
A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning economic development.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE] (a) As used in this
2 SECTION, "corporation" means the Indiana economic
3 development corporation established by IC 5-28-3-1.
4 (b) As used in this SECTION, "e-sports" means a single player
5 or multiplayer video game played competitively, typically by
6 professional gamers.
7 (c) The corporation shall study methods and strategies to allow
8 Indiana to become a leader in the development of the e-sports
9 industry.
10 (d) Before November 1, 2025, the corporation shall submit a
11 report on the results of the study conducted under subsection (c) to
12 the governor and the general assembly. The report submitted to
13 the general assembly must be in an electronic format under
14 IC 5-14-6.
15 (e) This SECTION expires January 1, 2026.
16 SECTION 2. An emergency is declared for this act.
