DIGEST OF INTRODUCED RESOL UTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to allow the House of
Representatives and the Senate of the 124th Indiana General
Assembly to adjourn and recess separately throughout the First
Regular Session for periods in excess of three (3) consecutive
days as the need, in the judgment of the Speaker of the House
of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the
Senate, respectively, may arise.

HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. ____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to allow the House of
2 Representatives and the Senate of the 124th Indiana General
3 Assembly to adjourn and recess separately throughout the First
4 Regular Session for periods in excess of three (3) consecutive
5 days as the need, in the judgment of the Speaker of the House
6 of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the
7 Senate, respectively, may arise.
8 Whereas, The Indiana House of Representatives and the
9 Senate met for the purpose of organization of each house and
10 to conduct the public business of the people of the State of
11 Indiana; 
12 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate shall
13 operate on their own respective schedules, having been
14 separated from each other pursuant to IC 2-2.1-1-2; 
15 Whereas, During the consideration of legislative business,
16 each house may, in the respective judgment of the Speaker of
17 the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of
18 the Senate, deem it necessary to adjourn and recess for periods
19 in excess of three (3) consecutive days and to operate on a
20 schedule different from the other house; 
21 Whereas, Article 4, Section 10 of the Constitution of the State
22 of Indiana states that neither house shall, without the consent
23 of the other, adjourn for more than three (3) consecutive days; 
24 Whereas, Each house desires to consent to any adjournment
25 or recess by the other house which might last more than three
26 (3) days during the First Regular Session of the 124th General

1 Assembly; and
2 Whereas, The House of Representatives and the Senate intend
3 to recess after November 19, 2024, and meet again on January
4 8, 2025, to conduct legislative business: Therefore,
5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
6 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
7 the Senate concurring:
8 SECTION 1. That each house of the 124th Indiana General
9 Assembly hereby consents to any adjournment or recess of the
10 other house during the First Regular Session of the 124th
11 Indiana General Assembly for a period in excess of three (3)
12 days, where such recess or adjournment is approved, in the case
13 of the Senate, by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or,
14 in the case of the House of Representatives, by the Speaker of
15 the House of Representatives.
16 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
17 Representatives is directed to inform the Senate of the passage
18 of the Resolution.
