2317 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2418 2 Department of Transportation to rename that portion of State
2519 3 Road 75 between CR 700 S and CR 800 S in Carroll County the
2620 4 "Deputy Sheriff Noah C. Rainey Memorial Road".
2721 5 Whereas, On Saturday January 29, 2022, Deputy Sheriff
2822 6 Noah C. Rainey tragically passed away while responding to a
2923 7 call for help in neighboring Clinton County;
3024 8 Whereas, Deputy Rainey had served with the Carroll County
3125 9 Sheriff's Office as a full-time deputy for three years and as a
3226 10 reserve deputy for one year;
3327 11 Whereas, He had previously served with the Tippecanoe
3428 12 County Sheriff's Office for three years and the Indiana
3529 13 Department of Correction for one year;
3630 14 Whereas, The stretch of road requested on State Road 75 is
3731 15 the last mile that Deputy Rainey traveled on the morning that
3832 16 he passed;
3933 17 Whereas, Deputy Rainey left behind his wife, two sons, and a
4034 18 community that he loved; and
4135 19 Whereas, Deputy Rainey's last action was responding to a
4236 20 call of service with the intent to serve and protect his
4337 21 community: Therefore,
4438 22 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
4539 23 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
4640 24 the Senate concurring:

4842 1 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
4943 2 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename that portion of
5044 3 State Road 75 between CR 700 S and CR 800 S in Carroll
5145 4 County the "Deputy Sheriff Noah C. Rainey Memorial Road".
5246 5 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
5347 6 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
5448 7 Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
