23	23	1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing March 18,
24	24	2 2025, as Indiana Senior Day at the Indiana Statehouse.
25	25	3 Whereas, Indiana is home to a growing and vibrant senior
26	26	4 citizen population with over 1.5 million Hoosiers aged 60 and
27	27	5 older, representing more than 20 percent of the state's total
28	28	6 population;
29	29	7 Whereas, Indiana's seniors contribute significantly to their
30	30	8 communities through volunteer work and economic
31	31	9 participation, and as caretakers, mentors, and valued members
32	32	10 of society;
33	33	11 Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the
34	34	12 critical importance of ensuring that senior citizens have access
35	35	13 to the resources and services that enhance their quality of life,
36	36	14 protect their well-being, and support their independence;
37	37	15 Whereas, Indiana Senior Day 2025 represents the third
38	38	16 biannual event dedicated to connecting Indiana's senior citizen
39	39	17 community with legislators, government agencies, and a broad
40	40	18 network of resources available to them;
41	41	19 Whereas, This event offers a valuable opportunity for seniors
42	42	20 to learn more about critical services such as health care, senior
43	43	21 housing, financial assistance programs, and other vital
44	44	22 supports that can improve their daily lives;
45	45	23 Whereas, Through such engagements, Indiana Senior Day
46	46	24 fosters meaningful dialogue between lawmakers and the senior
47	47	25 citizen community, ensuring their voices are heard and their

49	49	1 needs are addressed in the legislative process;
50	50	2 Whereas, The success of this event demonstrates the growing
51	51	3 commitment of the state of Indiana to the well-being of its
52	52	4 senior citizens, who are essential contributors to the state's
53	53	5 social, cultural, and economic fabric; and
54	54	6 Whereas, Indiana's senior citizen population plays a central
55	55	7 role in sustaining the state's workforce and economy,
56	56	8 contributing more than $23 billion annually in health care
57	57	9 spending, volunteerism, and caregiving services, underscoring
58	58	10 the value of their continued engagement and support:
59	59	11 Therefore,
60	60	12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
61	61	13 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
62	62	14 the Senate concurring:
63	63	15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
64	64	16 March 18, 2025, as Indiana Senior Day at the Indiana
65	65	17 Statehouse and recognizes the broad impact senior citizens have
66	66	18 on the state of Indiana.
67	67	19 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
68	68	20 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
69	69	21 Representative Robin Shackleford for distribution.
