2323 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing March 18,
2424 2 2025, as Indiana Senior Day at the Indiana Statehouse.
2525 3 Whereas, Indiana is home to a growing and vibrant senior
2626 4 citizen population with over 1.5 million Hoosiers aged 60 and
2727 5 older, representing more than 20 percent of the state's total
2828 6 population;
2929 7 Whereas, Indiana's seniors contribute significantly to their
3030 8 communities through volunteer work and economic
3131 9 participation, and as caretakers, mentors, and valued members
3232 10 of society;
3333 11 Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the
3434 12 critical importance of ensuring that senior citizens have access
3535 13 to the resources and services that enhance their quality of life,
3636 14 protect their well-being, and support their independence;
3737 15 Whereas, Indiana Senior Day 2025 represents the third
3838 16 biannual event dedicated to connecting Indiana's senior citizen
3939 17 community with legislators, government agencies, and a broad
4040 18 network of resources available to them;
4141 19 Whereas, This event offers a valuable opportunity for seniors
4242 20 to learn more about critical services such as health care, senior
4343 21 housing, financial assistance programs, and other vital
4444 22 supports that can improve their daily lives;
4545 23 Whereas, Through such engagements, Indiana Senior Day
4646 24 fosters meaningful dialogue between lawmakers and the senior
4747 25 citizen community, ensuring their voices are heard and their

4949 1 needs are addressed in the legislative process;
5050 2 Whereas, The success of this event demonstrates the growing
5151 3 commitment of the state of Indiana to the well-being of its
5252 4 senior citizens, who are essential contributors to the state's
5353 5 social, cultural, and economic fabric; and
5454 6 Whereas, Indiana's senior citizen population plays a central
5555 7 role in sustaining the state's workforce and economy,
5656 8 contributing more than $23 billion annually in health care
5757 9 spending, volunteerism, and caregiving services, underscoring
5858 10 the value of their continued engagement and support:
5959 11 Therefore,
6060 12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
6161 13 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
6262 14 the Senate concurring:
6363 15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
6464 16 March 18, 2025, as Indiana Senior Day at the Indiana
6565 17 Statehouse and recognizes the broad impact senior citizens have
6666 18 on the state of Indiana.
6767 19 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
6868 20 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
6969 21 Representative Robin Shackleford for distribution.
