2828 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
2929 education.
3030 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
3131 1 SECTION 1. IC 20-26-9-20 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
3232 2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
3333 3 1, 2025]: Sec. 20. (a) As used in this section, "federal community
3434 4 eligibility provision" refers to the federal community eligibility
3535 5 provision:
3636 6 (1) under 42 U.S.C. 1759a and 7 CFR 245.9(f), as in effect on
3737 7 January 1, 2025; and
3838 8 (2) administered by the United States Department of
3939 9 Agriculture;
4040 10 that is an alternative reimbursement option for eligible school
4141 11 corporations with a high concentration of low income students to
4242 12 provide universal free school breakfast and lunch to all students.
4343 13 (b) Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, the department shall
4444 14 provide technical assistance to a school corporation that:
4545 15 (1) is eligible to participate in the federal community
4646 16 eligibility provision; and
4747 17 (2) elects to participate in the federal community eligibility
