SENATE BILL No. 430 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning public safety. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 10-19-14 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE 2 AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE 3 JULY 1, 2025]: 4 Chapter 14. 287(g) Agreement Grant Program 5 Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "287(g) agreement" refers to an 6 agreement entered into under Section 287(g) of the Immigration 7 and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1357(g)). 8 Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "program" refers to the 287(g) 9 agreement grant program established by section 3 of this chapter. 10 Sec. 3. (a) The 287(g) agreement grant program is established. 11 (b) The department shall administer the program. 12 Sec. 4. The department may provide a grant under the program 13 to assist a local law enforcement authority (as defined in 14 IC 11-8-8-2) in entering into and carrying out law enforcement 15 under a 287(g) agreement. 16 Sec. 5. The department may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to 17 implement and administer this chapter.
