4232 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning

4434 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
4535 1 SECTION 1. IC 10-19-14 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
4636 2 AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
4737 3 JULY 1, 2025]:
4838 4 Chapter 14. 287(g) Agreement Grant Program
4939 5 Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "287(g) agreement" refers to an
5040 6 agreement entered into under Section 287(g) of the Immigration
5141 7 and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1357(g)).
5242 8 Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "program" refers to the 287(g)
5343 9 agreement grant program established by section 3 of this chapter.
5444 10 Sec. 3. (a) The 287(g) agreement grant program is established.
5545 11 (b) The department shall administer the program.
5646 12 Sec. 4. The department may provide a grant under the program
5747 13 to assist a local law enforcement authority (as defined in
5848 14 IC 11-8-8-2) in entering into and carrying out law enforcement
5949 15 under a 287(g) agreement.
6050 16 Sec. 5. The department may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to
6151 17 implement and administer this chapter.
