53 | 43 | | 5 Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "eligible provider" has the |
---|
54 | 44 | | 6 meaning set forth in IC 22-4.1-20-1. The term includes, for |
---|
55 | 45 | | 7 purposes of this chapter, a training provider listed on the |
---|
56 | 46 | | 8 department's eligible training provider list on the department's |
---|
57 | 47 | | 9 website. |

58 | 48 | | 10 Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "pilot program" means the |
---|
59 | 49 | | 11 reemployment skills training pilot program established by the |
---|
60 | 50 | | 12 department under section 3 of this chapter. |
---|
61 | 51 | | 13 Sec. 3. The department may establish a reemployment skills |
---|
62 | 52 | | 14 training pilot program to supplement an individual's receipt of |
---|
63 | 53 | | 15 weekly unemployment benefits for each week of unemployment |
---|
64 | 54 | | 16 that the individual is: |
---|
65 | 55 | | 17 (1) eligible for unemployment benefits; and |
---|
67 | 57 | | 1 (2) making satisfactory weekly progress toward a training |
---|
68 | 58 | | 2 program approved under this chapter. |
---|
69 | 59 | | 3 Sec. 4. An individual is eligible to participate in the pilot |
---|
70 | 60 | | 4 program if the department determines that the individual is: |
---|
71 | 61 | | 5 (1) unlikely to find sustainable employment without further |
---|
72 | 62 | | 6 training; |
---|
73 | 63 | | 7 (2) eligible for unemployment compensation under this |
---|
74 | 64 | | 8 article; and |
---|
75 | 65 | | 9 (3) more likely to complete training with a weekly incentive. |
---|
76 | 66 | | 10 Sec. 5. The department may approve a training program under |
---|
77 | 67 | | 11 the pilot program that meets the following requirements: |
---|
78 | 68 | | 12 (1) The department determines that the training program is |
---|
79 | 69 | | 13 for a high wage and high demand occupation. |
---|
80 | 70 | | 14 (2) Completion of the training program results in an industry |
---|
81 | 71 | | 15 recognized credential or certification. |
---|
82 | 72 | | 16 (3) Completion of the training program substantially |
---|
83 | 73 | | 17 increases the likelihood of an individual being employed. |
---|
84 | 74 | | 18 (4) The training program is offered by an eligible provider. |
---|
85 | 75 | | 19 Sec. 6. (a) This section applies only if the department establishes |
---|
86 | 76 | | 20 the pilot program. |
---|
87 | 77 | | 21 (b) The pilot program may not be funded from the |
---|
88 | 78 | | 22 unemployment trust fund. |
---|
89 | 79 | | 23 (c) The reemployment skills training pilot program fund is |

90 | 80 | | 24 established for the purpose of funding the pilot program. |
---|
91 | 81 | | 25 (d) The fund shall be administered by the department. |
---|
92 | 82 | | 26 (e) The expenses of administering the fund shall be paid from |
---|
93 | 83 | | 27 money in the fund. |

94 | 84 | | 28 (f) The fund consists of the following: |

95 | 85 | | 29 (1) Appropriations to the fund. |

96 | 86 | | 30 (2) Federal grant funds. |
