SENATE BILL No. 492 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning local government. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 36-1-8.5-2, AS AMENDED BY P.L.180-2023, 2 SECTION 1, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE 3 JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "covered person" 4 means any of the following: 5 (1) A judge. 6 (2) A law enforcement officer. 7 (3) An address confidentiality program participant. 8 (4) A public official. 9 (5) The surviving spouse of a person described in subdivision (2), 10 if the person was killed in the line of duty. 11 (6) An employee of the department of child services. 12 (7) A current or former probation officer. 13 (8) A current or former community corrections officer. 14 (9) A regular, paid firefighter or a volunteer firefighter (as defined 15 in IC 36-8-12-2). 16 (10) A public safety telecommunicator (as defined in 17 IC 10-10.5-1-6). 2025 IN 492—LS 7229/DI 87 2 1 (11) An administrator for a 911 emergency call dispatch 2 center. 3 (10) (12) Any person who resides in the same household as a 4 person described in subdivisions (1) through (9).
