1717 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to allow the Senate and
1818 2 the House of Representatives of the 124th Indiana General
1919 3 Assembly to adjourn and recess separately throughout the First
2020 4 Regular Session for periods in excess of three (3) consecutive
2121 5 days as the need, in the judgment of the President Pro Tempore
2222 6 of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
2323 7 respectively, may arise.
2424 8 Whereas, The Indiana Senate and the House of
2525 9 Representatives met for the purpose of organization of each
2626 10 house and to conduct the public business of the people of the
2727 11 State of Indiana;
2828 12 Whereas, The Senate and the House of Representatives
2929 13 shall operate on their own respective schedules, having been
3030 14 separated from each other pursuant to IC 2-2.1-1-2;
3131 15 Whereas, During the consideration of legislative business,
3232 16 each house may, in the respective judgment of the President
3333 17 Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
3434 18 Representatives, deem it necessary to adjourn and recess for
3535 19 periods in excess of three (3) consecutive days and to operate
3636 20 on a schedule different from the other house;
3737 21 Whereas, Article 4, Section 10 of the Constitution of the
3838 22 State of Indiana states that neither house shall, without the
3939 23 consent of the other, adjourn for more than three (3)
4040 24 consecutive days;
4141 25 Whereas, Each house desires to consent to any

4343 1 adjournment or recess by the other house that might last more
4444 2 than three (3) days during the First Regular Session of the
4545 3 124th General Assembly; and
4646 4 Whereas, The Senate and the House of Representatives
4747 5 intend to recess after November 19, 2024, and meet again on
4848 6 January 8, 2025, to conduct legislative business: Therefore,
4949 7 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
5050 8 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
5151 9 concurring:
5252 10 SECTION 1. That each House of the 124th Indiana General
5353 11 Assembly hereby consents to any adjournment or recess of the
5454 12 other House during the First Regular Session of the 124th
5555 13 General Assembly for a period in excess of three (3) days,
5656 14 where such recess or adjournment is approved, in the case of
5757 15 the Senate, by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or, in
5858 16 the case of the House of Representatives, by the Speaker of the
5959 17 House of Representatives.
6060 18 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
6161 19 to inform the House of Representatives of the passage of the
6262 20 Resolution.
