32 | 31 | | 11 Training Academy in 2010 and the Indiana Law Enforcement |

34 | 33 | | 13 Whereas, Deputy Pickett began his law enforcement career |

35 | 34 | | 14 in 2010 at the Marion County Sheriff's Office as a detention |

36 | 35 | | 15 deputy and member of the Sheriff's Presentation Corps, where |

37 | 36 | | 16 he served for three years before transferring to the Tipton |

39 | 38 | | 18 Whereas, In 2015, Deputy Pickett joined the Boone County |

40 | 39 | | 19 Sheriff's Office, where he served as a taser instructor, K-9 team |

41 | 40 | | 20 leader, K-9 handler, and member of the Fraternal Order of |

43 | 42 | | 22 Whereas, Deputy Pickett's acts of service extended both in |

44 | 43 | | 23 uniform and out of it by greeting children at school, organizing |

45 | 44 | | 24 a children's Christmas card drive, and rescuing animals with |

52 | 51 | | 5 during which time Deputy Pickett joined the pursuit; |

53 | 52 | | 6 Whereas, After a short pursuit, all three males exited the |

54 | 53 | | 7 vehicle onto Indiana Spring Road and fled on foot, shortly |

55 | 54 | | 8 followed by Deputy Pickett and his canine partner, Brik; |

56 | 55 | | 9 Whereas, Deputy Pickett was fatally shot during the foot |

57 | 56 | | 10 pursuit, but was able to complete one lasting act of service by |

58 | 57 | | 11 donating his organs three days later; |

59 | 58 | | 12 Whereas, Deputy Pickett is survived by his wife, Jennifer, |

60 | 59 | | 13 sons, Lincoln David and Wade Matthew, parents, sister, and in- |

62 | 61 | | 15 Whereas, In honor of Deputy Pickett's legacy, Jennifer |

63 | 62 | | 16 established the Jake Pickett Response Organization to assist |

65 | 64 | | 18 Whereas, It is fitting for the Indiana Department of |
