WALKER K , read first time and referred to Committee on 2025 RC 1510/DI BB Introduced First Regular Session 124th General Assembly (2025) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Noah 2 Malone on winning the gold medal in the men's 100 meter T12 3 event at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France. 4 Whereas, Fishers native Noah Malone suffers from a rare 5 genetic condition known as Leber hereditary optic neuropathy; 6 Whereas, Due to his condition, Malone began to lose his 7 sight at the age of 13 and meets the statutory definition of 8 blindness with 20/400 vision in his left eye and 20/600 in his 9 right eye; 10 Whereas, Despite this adversity, Malone graduated from 11 Hamilton Southeastern High School (HSE) in 2020, enrolled at 12 Indiana State University (ISU), and rose through the ranks to 13 become a world-class sprinter and a track and field sensation; 14 Whereas, While at HSE, Malone won the 2019 Indiana 15 High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) 200-meter 16 championship, set several school records, including the fastest 17 time in the 100- and 200-meter, and medaled at both the 2019 18 World Para Athletics Junior Championships and the 2019 19 Parapan American Games; 20 Whereas, At ISU, Malone was one of the only legally blind 21 athletes on scholarship in National Collegiate Athletic 22 Association (NCAA) Division I sports and anchored a team that 23 set a school record in the 400-meter relay and set the T12 24 world record in the 200-meter; 2025 RC 1510/DI BB 2 1 Whereas, Malone competed as a Paralympian for the 2 United States Paralympic National Team in the Tokyo 2020 3 Paralympic Games and brought home individual silver medals 4 in the 100-meter and 400-meter races as well as the gold medal 5 in the 400-meter mixed relay event; 6 Whereas, In between Paralympic Games, Malone claimed 7 the gold medal in the 100-meter T12 events at the 2022 World 8 Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai and the 2023 Para 9 Athletics World Championships; 10 Whereas, By virtue of his gold medal at the Para Athletics 11 World Championships, Malone secured his place at the 2024 12 Paralympic Games in Paris, France, where he competed in the 13 100-meter and 400-meter T12 races and the 400-meter 14 universal relay; 15 Whereas, With a time of 10.71 seconds, Malone claimed his 16 first individual Paralympic gold medal in the men's T12 100- 17 meter final, marking the second straight Paralympics in which 18 he medaled in this event; and 19 Whereas, For his continued perseverance in the face of 20 adversity and for his sustained excellence at the world's highest 21 athletic stage, Noah Malone has forever secured a place in 22 Hoosier sports history: Therefore, 23 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 24 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 25 concurring: 26 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly 27 congratulates Noah Malone on winning the gold medal in the 28 men's 100 meter T12 event at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in 29 Paris, France. 30 SECTION 2.
