1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the
2 Avon High School dance team on winning the 2025 Indiana
3 High School Dance Team Association (IHSDTA) Division 3A
4 state championship title.
5 Whereas, On March 2, 2025, Avon High School's Black and
6 Gold dance team won the 2025 Indiana High School Dance
7 Team Association (IHSDTA) 3A varsity state championship at
8 the Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana;
9 Whereas, The Black and Gold dance team started their
10 season in early December when they faced off against teams
11 from all over the state in dance categories spanning Pom, Jazz,
12 Kick, Hip Hop, Solo, Duos, and Ensemble;
13 Whereas, On February 22, 2025, the Black and Gold
14 attended Regionals at Noblesville High School, where the
15 junior varsity team brought home first place for Pom and Hip
16 Hop and the varsity team brought home first and second place
17 for Jazz and Hip Hop, respectively;
18 Whereas, After their success at Regionals, the Black and
19 Gold traveled to the state championship, where they competed
20 in Hip Hop, Pom, and Jazz against ten other high schools in
21 Division 3A;
22 Whereas, After three decades of Lake Central's dance team
23 winning the Hip Hop state title, Avon's Varsity team clinched

1 the 2025 3A title in that category after receiving a sub-total of
2 436.5 points and a grand total of 87.3 points, 0.88 points above
3 Lake Central's grand total;
4 Whereas, Avon's varsity team also placed fourth with their
5 3A Jazz routine while junior varsity was the State runner-up in
6 Pom and third in Hip Hop, and the middle school team placed
7 fifth in JHAAA Jazz;
8 Whereas, Following their win in Hip Hop, the Black and
9 Gold dance team competed in the IHSDTA Solo and Ensemble
10 State Finals on March 8, 2025, where their Large Ensemble,
11 consisting of Ava York, Ava Clark, Addi Mason, Alaina Gulley,
12 Leah Levstek, Kaylee Diaz, and Claire Rininger, won their fifth
13 consecutive state championship;
14 Whereas, The Junior Ensemble, consisting of Kendell
15 Aspling, Aliana Gebreslassie, Haylee Silver, and Izzie Reed,
16 brought home Avon's first state championship in the category;
17 and
18 Whereas, Under the tutelage of Avon's Dance Director,
19 Alyssa Hartsock, the Black and Gold Dance Team finished their
20 2025 season in a historic way with three state championships:
21 Therefore,
22 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
23 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
24 concurring:
25 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
26 congratulates the Avon High School dance team on winning the
27 2025 IHSDTA Division 3A state championship title.
28 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
29 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Coaches Victoria York,
30 Rachel Moran, Megan Dugle, Alyssa Hartsock, and Jennifer

1 Hinshaw and each member of the Avon High School dance
2 team.
