17 | 17 | | 4 Whereas, In 1999, Suzann Siler DeLay founded the Central |
---|
18 | 18 | | 5 Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) in the Indianapolis |
---|
19 | 19 | | 6 Metropolitan area to provide a culturally and educationally |
---|
20 | 20 | | 7 enriching environment for aspiring young dancers to learn, |
---|
21 | 21 | | 8 practice, and perform a variety of dance forms in a |
---|
22 | 22 | | 9 pre-professional atmosphere; |
---|
23 | 23 | | 10 Whereas, Beginning with only eight main company |
---|
24 | 24 | | 11 members, CIDE has since grown to house a company of more |
---|
25 | 25 | | 12 than 60 dancers between ages 8-18; |
---|
26 | 26 | | 13 Whereas, CIDE's graduating alumni have included 35 |
---|
27 | 27 | | 14 dancers with professional contracts, 30 continuing their dance |
---|
28 | 28 | | 15 education in colleges and universities around the globe, 15 |
---|
29 | 29 | | 16 pursuing dance education in professional training divisions |
---|
30 | 30 | | 17 across the United States, and 20 more teaching, directing, or |
---|
31 | 31 | | 18 working administrative jobs at dance schools within Indiana |

37 | 37 | | 4 increasing to an annual cast of 135 dancers where CIDE has |
---|
38 | 38 | | 5 added students from all over central Indiana to participate with |
---|
39 | 39 | | 6 company members and has promoted the arts through various |

40 | 40 | | 7 outreach programs by offering performances to area Girl |
---|
41 | 41 | | 8 Scouts and other children's organizations and complimentary |

42 | 42 | | 9 performances to children from inner-city schools; |

43 | 43 | | 10 Whereas, Outside of its annual performance of The |

44 | 44 | | 11 Nutcracker, CIDE showcases the vast talent of its dancers |

45 | 45 | | 12 through a repertory concert in mid-winter and a full-length |

46 | 46 | | 13 spring production, which has featured favorites like Cinderella, |

47 | 47 | | 14 Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, The Sleeping |

48 | 48 | | 15 Beauty, Coppelia, and this year will feature Beauty and the |

50 | 50 | | 17 Whereas, CIDE is a member of the Ballet Alliance and the |

51 | 51 | | 18 Regional Dance America Association (RDAA), where the |
---|
52 | 52 | | 19 Ensemble was elevated to the status of Honor Company in 2006 |

53 | 53 | | 20 to recognize its consistent superior performance and is the |
---|
54 | 54 | | 21 highest level of participation in RDAA; |
---|
55 | 55 | | 22 Whereas, Through the program's history, CIDE has |
---|
56 | 56 | | 23 remained under the instruction of Suzann Siler DeLay, who |
---|
57 | 57 | | 24 received early dance training under the founders of the |
---|
58 | 58 | | 25 Sacramento Ballet and went on to have a brief career with the |
---|
59 | 59 | | 26 Pacific Northwest Ballet before teaching, choreographing, and |
---|
60 | 60 | | 27 performing throughout the United States with a knowledge of |
---|
61 | 61 | | 28 classical ballet and specialization in creative dance; |
---|
62 | 62 | | 29 Whereas, Suzann has built the staff of CIDE from the |
---|
63 | 63 | | 30 ground up, eventually bringing in her daughter, Ashley Jacobs, |
---|
64 | 64 | | 31 as co-owner, director of preschool and primary divisions, and |
---|
65 | 65 | | 32 co-artistic director, Michael Casey Clark as co-artistic director |

66 | 66 | | 33 and rehearsal director, Anna Davis as youth company director, |
