1212 MR. PRESIDENT:
1313 I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1414 1 A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Suzann Siler
1515 2 DeLay and the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) on the
1616 3 Ensemble's 25th anniversary.
1717 4 Whereas, In 1999, Suzann Siler DeLay founded the Central
1818 5 Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) in the Indianapolis
1919 6 Metropolitan area to provide a culturally and educationally
2020 7 enriching environment for aspiring young dancers to learn,
2121 8 practice, and perform a variety of dance forms in a
2222 9 pre-professional atmosphere;
2323 10 Whereas, Beginning with only eight main company
2424 11 members, CIDE has since grown to house a company of more
2525 12 than 60 dancers between ages 8-18;
2626 13 Whereas, CIDE's graduating alumni have included 35
2727 14 dancers with professional contracts, 30 continuing their dance
2828 15 education in colleges and universities around the globe, 15
2929 16 pursuing dance education in professional training divisions
3030 17 across the United States, and 20 more teaching, directing, or
3131 18 working administrative jobs at dance schools within Indiana
3232 19 and around the country;

3434 1 Whereas, Since its founding year, CIDE has performed a
3535 2 full-length production of The Nutcracker each year, having
3636 3 started with 35 dancers in its original production and
3737 4 increasing to an annual cast of 135 dancers where CIDE has
3838 5 added students from all over central Indiana to participate with
3939 6 company members and has promoted the arts through various
4040 7 outreach programs by offering performances to area Girl
4141 8 Scouts and other children's organizations and complimentary
4242 9 performances to children from inner-city schools;
4343 10 Whereas, Outside of its annual performance of The
4444 11 Nutcracker, CIDE showcases the vast talent of its dancers
4545 12 through a repertory concert in mid-winter and a full-length
4646 13 spring production, which has featured favorites like Cinderella,
4747 14 Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, The Sleeping
4848 15 Beauty, Coppelia, and this year will feature Beauty and the
4949 16 Beast;
5050 17 Whereas, CIDE is a member of the Ballet Alliance and the
5151 18 Regional Dance America Association (RDAA), where the
5252 19 Ensemble was elevated to the status of Honor Company in 2006
5353 20 to recognize its consistent superior performance and is the
5454 21 highest level of participation in RDAA;
5555 22 Whereas, Through the program's history, CIDE has
5656 23 remained under the instruction of Suzann Siler DeLay, who
5757 24 received early dance training under the founders of the
5858 25 Sacramento Ballet and went on to have a brief career with the
5959 26 Pacific Northwest Ballet before teaching, choreographing, and
6060 27 performing throughout the United States with a knowledge of
6161 28 classical ballet and specialization in creative dance;
6262 29 Whereas, Suzann has built the staff of CIDE from the
6363 30 ground up, eventually bringing in her daughter, Ashley Jacobs,
6464 31 as co-owner, director of preschool and primary divisions, and
6565 32 co-artistic director, Michael Casey Clark as co-artistic director
6666 33 and rehearsal director, Anna Davis as youth company director,
6767 34 Megan Tillman Hustel as ballet mistress and communications

6969 1 coordinator, Paul Tillman as resident choreographer and guest
7070 2 artist, and instructors Audrey Burdick, Mikaela Geller, Barclay
7171 3 Gibbs, Shelby Lewis, Madeline Miller, Kimberlee Moody,
7272 4 Rochelle Paquette, and Derek Reid; and
7373 5 Whereas, CIDE will host an Anniversary Gala on January
7474 6 25, 2025, to commemorate the Ensemble's 25th anniversary:

7676 8 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
7777 9 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
7878 10 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates Suzann
7979 11 Siler DeLay and the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE)
8080 12 on the Ensemble's 25th anniversary.
8181 13 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
8282 14 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Suzann Siler DeLay and
8383 15 the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble.
