SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the 2025 class of
2 the Indiana State Bar Association's Leadership Development
3 Academy.
4 Whereas, The Indiana State Bar Association Leadership
5 Development Academy (LDA) empowers and develops lawyers
6 to be informed, committed, and involved in order to serve as
7 role models in matters of ethics and professionalism in local
8 and state bar associations, Indiana communities, and
9 organizations;
10 Whereas, The LDA Class of 2025, the thirteenth annual
11 class of the program, consists of 25 Indiana lawyers who have
12 been admitted to practice law for 15 years or less;
13 Whereas, The LDA incorporates professional facilitators
14 and prominent leaders from various disciplines to inform
15 participants about leadership principles and techniques, the
16 importance of effective leaders in organizations and
17 governments for maximum efficiency and effectiveness, and the
18 challenges and rewards of leadership in action;
19 Whereas, The LDA class members are selected from around

1 the state and are exposed to topics such as public service,
2 economic development, government, the military, leadership,
3 diversity and inclusion, and other related leadership topics;
4 Whereas, The LDA class members travel around the state
5 actively engaging in panel discussions, group activities, and
6 demonstrations with faculty who include Indiana Supreme
7 Court Justices, Court of Appeals and trial court judges,
8 members of the executive and legislative branches of Indiana
9 government, and prominent business and military leaders;
10 Whereas, One of the principal themes of the LDA is
11 "Leadership begins with the attitude of a servant leader - to
12 serve first, and out of service we are given the honor to lead";
13 and
14 Whereas, In February 2025, the LDA session days focus on
15 local and state government by providing the class with an
16 opportunity to get acquainted with members of the Indiana
17 Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, to tour the Indiana
18 Statehouse, the Birch Bayh Federal Building, and the United
19 States Courthouse, to discuss issues with Indiana legislators,
20 and to hear an oral argument: Therefore,
21 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
22 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
23 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the 2025
24 class of the Indiana State Bar Association's Leadership
25 Development Academy and the importance of the education
26 provided by the program.
27 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
28 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Indiana Supreme
29 Court, the Indiana State Bar Association Leadership
30 Development Academy, and each member of the 2025 LDA
31 class.
