17 | 17 | | 4 Whereas, The Indiana State Bar Association Leadership |
---|
18 | 18 | | 5 Development Academy (LDA) empowers and develops lawyers |
---|
19 | 19 | | 6 to be informed, committed, and involved in order to serve as |
---|
20 | 20 | | 7 role models in matters of ethics and professionalism in local |
---|
21 | 21 | | 8 and state bar associations, Indiana communities, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | 9 organizations; |
---|
23 | 23 | | 10 Whereas, The LDA Class of 2025, the thirteenth annual |
---|
24 | 24 | | 11 class of the program, consists of 25 Indiana lawyers who have |
---|
25 | 25 | | 12 been admitted to practice law for 15 years or less; |
---|
26 | 26 | | 13 Whereas, The LDA incorporates professional facilitators |
---|
27 | 27 | | 14 and prominent leaders from various disciplines to inform |
---|
28 | 28 | | 15 participants about leadership principles and techniques, the |
---|
29 | 29 | | 16 importance of effective leaders in organizations and |
---|
30 | 30 | | 17 governments for maximum efficiency and effectiveness, and the |
---|
31 | 31 | | 18 challenges and rewards of leadership in action; |

32 | 32 | | 19 Whereas, The LDA class members are selected from around |

34 | 34 | | 1 the state and are exposed to topics such as public service, |

35 | 35 | | 2 economic development, government, the military, leadership, |
---|
36 | 36 | | 3 diversity and inclusion, and other related leadership topics; |

37 | 37 | | 4 Whereas, The LDA class members travel around the state |

38 | 38 | | 5 actively engaging in panel discussions, group activities, and |
---|
39 | 39 | | 6 demonstrations with faculty who include Indiana Supreme |

40 | 40 | | 7 Court Justices, Court of Appeals and trial court judges, |
---|
41 | 41 | | 8 members of the executive and legislative branches of Indiana |
---|
42 | 42 | | 9 government, and prominent business and military leaders; |

43 | 43 | | 10 Whereas, One of the principal themes of the LDA is |

44 | 44 | | 11 "Leadership begins with the attitude of a servant leader - to |

45 | 45 | | 12 serve first, and out of service we are given the honor to lead"; |

47 | 47 | | 14 Whereas, In February 2025, the LDA session days focus on |

48 | 48 | | 15 local and state government by providing the class with an |

49 | 49 | | 16 opportunity to get acquainted with members of the Indiana |

50 | 50 | | 17 Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, to tour the Indiana |
---|
51 | 51 | | 18 Statehouse, the Birch Bayh Federal Building, and the United |
---|
52 | 52 | | 19 States Courthouse, to discuss issues with Indiana legislators, |

53 | 53 | | 20 and to hear an oral argument: Therefore, |

54 | 54 | | 21 Be it resolved by the Senate of the |

55 | 55 | | 22 General Assembly of the State of Indiana: |

56 | 56 | | 23 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the 2025 |
---|
57 | 57 | | 24 class of the Indiana State Bar Association's Leadership |
---|
58 | 58 | | 25 Development Academy and the importance of the education |
---|
59 | 59 | | 26 provided by the program. |

60 | 60 | | 27 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed |

61 | 61 | | 28 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Indiana Supreme |

62 | 62 | | 29 Court, the Indiana State Bar Association Leadership |
