13	13	I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
14	14	1 A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the Purdue
15	15	2 University Cooperative Extension Service's (Purdue Extension)
16	16	3 Community Leadership Program.
17	17	4 Whereas, Since 1889, the Purdue University Cooperative
18	18	5 Extension Service (Purdue Extension) has worked to enrich
19	19	6 Indiana communities through comprehensive programs in
20	20	7 agriculture and natural resources, health and human sciences,
21	21	8 4-H youth development, and community development by
22	22	9 delivering practical, research-based information that enhances
23	23	10 lives and livelihoods;
24	24	11 Whereas, The Purdue Extension's Community Leadership
25	25	12 Program is an intensive twelve-module county-based program
26	26	13 for adults who want to make a difference in communities
27	27	14 throughout Indiana;
28	28	15 Whereas, Program participants develop their own
29	29	16 leadership capabilities through experiential learning sessions
30	30	17 in which program facilitators draw on research-based content,
31	31	18 local expertise and context, and participants' collective
32	32	19 knowledge, skills, and experiences;

34	34	1 Whereas, The program aims to improve the quality of life
35	35	2 for all in the host communities by developing more civically-
36	36	3 engaged leaders by strengthening participants' confidence and
37	37	4 desire to take on community leadership roles, building
38	38	5 participants' leadership knowledge and skills to understand and
39	39	6 address important community issues and opportunities through
40	40	7 high-quality, evidence-based content, and connecting current
41	41	8 and emerging leaders to build relationships that benefit
42	42	9 communities throughout Indiana;
43	43	10 Whereas, Since 2015, the Community Leadership Program
44	44	11 has increased to nearly 1,000 alumni among more than 70
45	45	12 cohorts in 24 Indiana counties and communities, increasing the
46	46	13 quantity and quality of leaders involved in public and nonprofit
47	47	14 boards, committees, and coalitions, as well as grassroots and
48	48	15 volunteer efforts; and
49	49	16 Whereas, Leadership is a quality in perpetual demand and
50	50	17 it is right and proper to recognize the efforts of the Purdue
51	51	18 Extension Community Leadership Program in meeting this
52	52	19 demand throughout the Hoosier state: Therefore,
53	53	20 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
54	54	21 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
55	55	22 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the Purdue
56	56	23 University Cooperative Extension Service's (Purdue Extension)
57	57	24 Community Leadership Program.
58	58	25 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
59	59	26 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Kym Schwinkendorf,
60	60	27 Administrative Coordinator of the Purdue Extension's
61	61	28 Community Leadership Program.
