SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to urge state and private
2 universities to work on bringing a law school back to Northwest
3 Indiana and to advocate for the funding and resources necessary
4 to support a new law school.
5 Whereas, Since the closing of Valparaiso Law School in
6 2020, Northwest Indiana has had limited access to legal
7 education and opportunities for those seeking careers in law;
8 Whereas, A law school in Northwest Indiana would provide
9 a crucial resource for the community, enhancing local legal
10 expertise and economic development;
11 Whereas, The establishment of a law school in Northwest
12 Indiana would attract talented students, faculty, and
13 professionals, further enriching the area's intellectual and
14 cultural landscape;
15 Whereas, The need for legal professionals in Northwest
16 Indiana is significant and a law school would help meet this
17 demand; and
18 Whereas, A local law school would foster a stronger sense

1 of civic engagement and legal awareness within the community:
2 Therefore,
3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
4 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate urges state and
6 private universities to work on bringing a law school back to
7 Northwest Indiana.
8 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is directed to
9 transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Rodney Pol.
