SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2144 by House Committee on Judiciary
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2144 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2144 would authorize modification of a noncharitable irrevocable trust to provide that
the rule against perpetuities is inapplicable and would provide that the Kansas uniform statutory
rule against perpetuities is inapplicable to trusts under certain circumstances. The bill would also
amend the definition of “resident trust.”
The Office of Judicial Administration states enactment of the bill would have a negligible
fiscal effect on the operations of the Judicial Branch. The Department of Revenue states the bill’s
enactment would not have a fiscal effect to State General Fund receipts.
