Dear Senator Fagg:

SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 487 by Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs

In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 487 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.

SB 487 would amend the Kansas 911 Act. The bill would allow a county to contract with
another county for public safety answering point services. Any contract would be approved by the
911 Coordinating Council prior to the effective date of the contract. The bill would also adjust a
county’s direct distribution amount for those under contract with another county.

The Kansas Association of Counties states that because the bill would allow counties to
share resources it could save counties money if they wish to contract with other counties.
However, the fiscal effect cannot be estimated.

 	Sincerely,

 	Adam C. Proffitt
 	Director of the Budget
