66 AN ACT concerning elections; relating to the qualifications of poll
77 workers; prohibiting the disqualification of active military members,
88 spouses or other dependents as poll workers on the basis of residency
99 or registered voter status.
1010 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
1111 Section 1. (a) Neither the secretary of state nor any county election
1212 officer shall disqualify an individual from serving as a poll worker at any
1313 election on the basis of residency or registered voter status if such
1414 individual is a citizen of the United States and an active military member
1515 or the spouse or other dependent of an active military member.
1616 (b) Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit or otherwise
1717 restrict any poll worker qualifications based on the age of the individual,
1818 except as provided in K.S.A. 25-2804, and amendments thereto.
1919 (c) "Active military member" means any person with full-time duty
2020 status in the armed forces of the United States, including members of the
2121 national guard and reserve.
2222 Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
2323 publication in the statute book.
