66 AN ACT concerning the attorney general; relating to the drug abuse
77 resistance education (D.A.R.E.) program; creating the position of drug
88 abuse resistance education (D.A.R.E.) educator; providing for the
99 duties and responsibilities thereof.
1010 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
1111 Section 1. (a) The attorney general shall appoint a statewide drug
1212 abuse resistance education (D.A.R.E.) educator and, within the limits of
1313 appropriations available therefor, such additional staff as necessary to
1414 support the functions and responsibilities of the D.A.R.E. educator.
1515 (b) The D.A.R.E. educator shall:
1616 (1) Provide instruction on drug abuse using a curriculum approved by
1717 the attorney general that includes content on fentanyl and other opioid
1818 drugs to students in public elementary and secondary schools;
1919 (2) report annually to the legislature on any modifications to the
2020 curriculum utilized by the attorney general and provide the names and
2121 addresses of the public schools serviced by the program; and
2222 (3) perform other services and provide material and information as
2323 required to support the D.A.R.E. program in Kansas.
2424 Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
2525 publication in the statute book.
