| 6 | 6 | | AN ACT concerning health and healthcare; relating to abortion; requiring |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the Kansas department of health and environment to create an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | informational video describing abortion laws in Kansas and services |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | available for pregnant women experiencing life-threatening or health- |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | threatening medical conditions. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Section 1. (a) On or before September 1, 2025, the Kansas |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | department of health and environment shall create a video and other |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | materials that describe: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) The state's abortion laws, including acts that do or do not |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | constitute an abortion; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) the most common medical conditions that threaten the life or |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | health of a pregnant woman; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) the generally accepted standards of care applicable to the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | treatment of a pregnant woman experiencing life-threatening or health- |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | threatening medical conditions; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (4) the criteria that a practitioner, exercising reasonable medical |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | judgment, might use in determining the best course of treatment for a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pregnant woman and her unborn child who are experiencing life- |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | threatening or health-threatening medical conditions. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (b) In creating such video and other materials described in this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | section, the department shall consult with the attorney general and persons |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | with medical and legal expertise. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (c) Upon completion of the requirements of subsections (a) and (b), |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the department of health and environment shall make such video and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | materials available on its website. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | publication in the statute book. |
