| 9 | 9 | Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: | |
| 10 | 10 | Section 1. (a) The order of the sunflower shall be awarded to military | |
| 11 | 11 | spouses who have served their communities with distinction. | |
| 12 | 12 | (b) The award recipient shall have been deemed to have made a | |
| 13 | 13 | significant impact on their unity command, military installation, | |
| 14 | 14 | community or the state of Kansas. | |
| 15 | 15 | (c) The governor shall award the order of the sunflower based upon | |
| 16 | 16 | submissions made to the governor's office through constituent services on | |
| 17 | 17 | the governor's website. Award recommendations shall provide the dates of | |
| 18 | 18 | service, significant accomplishments and recommendations from the unit | |
| 19 | 19 | command. | |
| 20 | 20 | Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its | |
| 21 | 21 | publication in the statute book. | |
