| 6 | 6 | | AN ACT concerning retirement and pensions; relating to the Kansas public |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | employees retirement system and system thereunder; providing for a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | postretirement cost-of-living adjustment for certain retirants who are 85 |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | years of age or older. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Section 1. (a) The retirement benefit, pension or annuity payments |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | accruing after June 30, 2025, to each retirant shall be increased by a cost- |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of-living adjustment in an amount as provided in subsection (b). Such |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | payments shall be paid by the retirement system to the retirant. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) Each retirant who is 85 years of age or older on July 1, 2025, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | who is entitled to receive a retirement benefit, pension or annuity payment |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | from the retirement system on July 1, 2025, shall have such retirement |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | benefit, pension or annuity increased by $150 per month of the retirement |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | benefit, pension or annuity payment in effect on July 1, 2025. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (c) As used in this section: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (1) "Retirant" means any: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (A) Person who is a member or special member of the retirement |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | system pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 74-4901 et seq., and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | amendments thereto, and who is 85 years of age or older on July 1, 2025; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (B) person who is a joint annuitant or beneficiary of any member |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | described in subparagraph (A); and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (2) "retirement system" means the Kansas public employees |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | retirement system, the Kansas police and firemen's retirement system, the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | state school retirement system and the retirement system for judges. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (d) The provisions of this section shall be a part of and supplemental |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to K.S.A. 74-4901 et seq., and amendments thereto. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | publication in the statute book. |
