| 6 | 6 | | health and environment; requiring the department to submit an annual |

| 7 | 7 | | report to the legislature concerning the newborn screening program; |

| 8 | 8 | | specifying the contents of the report. |

| 9 | 9 | | Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Section 1. On or before April 1, 2026, and annually thereafter, the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | department of health and environment shall submit a report to the senate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | standing committee on public health and welfare and the house of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | representatives standing committee on health and human services or their |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | successor committees on the Kansas newborn screening program. The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | report shall be developed by the department of health and environment |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | newborn screening staff, the Kansas newborn screening advisory council |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and disability and rare disease advocacy organizations. Such report shall |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | include: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (a) The disorders currently screened under the Kansas newborn |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | screening program; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) new disorders under consideration or recommended for inclusion, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | including the amount of funding needed to implement such screenings; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (c) disorders considered but not recommended for inclusion during |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the prior 12 months, including the explanations for their exclusion; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (d) disorders that the department determined do not require |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | reevaluation within the prior 12 months, including the reasons for such |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | determinations; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (e) any delays in meeting the specified timelines for evaluating, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | including or reevaluating disorders, including the reasons for the delays. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | publication in the statute book. |
